The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (also known as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 & TCM 2 is a 1986 American dark comedy/horror sequel to the 1974 horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The film stars Dennis Hopper as "Lefty", Caroline Williams as "Strech", Bill Johnson as "Leatherface", and Jim Siedow, who reprises the role of "The Cook". It was written by L.M. Kit Carson and directed by Tobe Hooper, who also directed and co-wrote the original film.
Despite having a much larger budget than the first Chainsaw film, the sequel was highly criticized by some critics for its stylistic departure from the first film, which used minimal gore and a low-budget documentary style to scare its audience by skillfully building up dramatic tension. Unlike its predecessor, TCM 2 contains a large amount of gore and features special effects from make-up maestro Tom Savini.
Two drunken high school seniors, Rick "the prick" and Buzz, are driving on an abandoned Texas highway to a weekend of fun in Dallas, and constantly call the radio DJ, Vanita "Stretch" Brock. Suddenly, a truck drives parralel to them, and Leatherface appears. He cuts off the top of Buzz's head with his chainsaw, and the car crashes, killing them both.
The next morning, Lieutenant Lefty Enright, uncle of Sally and Franklin, and who spent 13 years investigating the disappearance of Franklin and the others, arrives to help solve the crime. When he gets the paper to carry an article about his quest to find the cannibals, Stretch brings him the tape where she recorded the deaths of Rick and Buzz. Lefty asks her to play the tape on the radio.
After winning an award for the best chili (which contains human meat), Drayton Sawyer hears the deaths of Rick and Buzz on radio. As Stretch is closing the radio station, she finds Chop Top, and tries to get rid of him. Leatherface appears from the darkness and attacks her. Chop Top bashes LG, Stretch's coworker, with a hammer, knocking him out and badly injuring him. Leatherface goes after Stretch, but falls in love with her and does not kill her.
Leatherface and Chop Top take LG to their hideout. Lefty follows them, and Stretch falls down a hole into the cannibals' new underground home. Lefty, who now has three chainsaws, begins to carve up the cannibals' house, and finds the remains of Franklin.
Eventually Drayton and Chop Top find Stretch and take her back to the dinner table where they have Grandpa try to kill her with a hammer, but again, he proves too old and frail to do this, so Drayton hits her on the head and knocks her out. Just then, Lefty appears. He cuts Stretch free of her restraints and injures Drayton with a chainsaw, and Drayton hides under a table as Lefty and Leatherface duel with their chainsaws on top of the table. Stretch runs off, but Chop Top chases after her.
Lefty impales Leatherface with the bigger chainsaw, and pulls out two smaller chainsaws to continue their battle. Drayton grabs a grenade from the skeleton of Nubbins the hitchhiker and pulls off the pin. As Stretch and Chop Top climb a ladder, Grandpa throws his hammer at Lefty, but hits Leatherface instead, and Leatherface falls down and his chainsaw goes through the table and strikes Drayton, who drops the grenade, which explodes, killing Drayton, Lefty, Grandpa, and Leatherface.
Stretch and Chop Top fight at the top of the mountain, where Stretch grabs a chainsaw from the skeleton of the cannibals' grandmother, and is cut multiple times by Chop Top until she activates the chainsaw and slashes Chop Top a few times in the stomach, sending him falling over the mountain and down a pipe to his death. The film ends with Stretch swinging her chainsaw around in the same way Leatherface did in the first film.
There are no "canon" sequels to this film; however, an entirely new continuity is created in the form of Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3.
